Embarking on the Yoga Teacher Training ( YTT) journey in my early 40s was a decision I never thought I’d make. Yoga had only been a part of my life a short time and teaching it was the furthest thing from my mind. Yet, here I am, compelled to share my transformative experience.
For over two decades, I had devoted myself to all things cardio, chasing the elusive goal of the perfect fitness/taco balance. However it wasn't until I discovered yoga that I truly experienced what by body and soul needed.
Yoga goes beyond physical benefits (although those are pretty stellar); it became a profound exploration of self and a sanctuary for my well-being. It forced me to confront aspects of myself that I had long avoided, to release the weight of emotional baggage I didn't even realize I was carrying. Through the practice of yoga, I found empowerment in vulnerability and strength in surrender to help face my shit head on.
Even after completing my 200-hour YTT, I hesitated to step into the role of teacher. But as I continued to witness the transformative power of yoga in my own life and in the lives of others, I knew I had to share this gift with the world. The decision to become a teacher was guided by the belief that the greatest growth often comes from surrendering to the unknown.
It's not about mastering poses; it’s about discovering yourself in ways you never imagined and surrendering to any version of the future. It’s about reclaiming your power and sharing that light with others. It’s a journey worth taking.
